MEMBERSHIP RULES
Brackenridge Social Golf Club (BRSGC) Membership Rules |
The ClubThe BRSGC's (the "Club") primary focus is on the social aspects of golf. The Club plays every fortnight and members are encouraged to play at their own leisure and guests are welcome. There are however a number of conditions that the club has set out to: a) ensure the smooth running of each days play; b) maximize the benefits to club members; and c) ensure that any general rules of the club are clear to all members. Calendar and Tee Times The Club committee sets a calendar for each years events. The calendar lists: a) Course Location; b) Tee Time; c) Event type. Unless otherwise advised players are requested to be at the course at least 20 minutes prior to tee time. Handicap Each player is allocated a club handicap after their first 3 single stroke games. (i.e. new players play the first 3 games as single stroke regardless of the event type). A current Golf Australia Handicap can be used initially instead of submitting 3 cards. A recent Golflink history will be needed to use handicap. This handicap is essentially counted as the first card submitted. Your club handicap will be adjusted after each club round by the handicapper. Membership and Green FeesMembership Fees are $50 per year and due by Game 6. Players who are not financial after Game 6 are not eligible to win prizes or trophy. Membership fees can be paid in a lump sum or by instalment. The Club endeavours to limit fortnightly green fees as best possible but can be subject to individual course fees. Members and guests pay the same fee which is payable immediately after the round to the Club Treasurer. Club SponsorshipThe Club Committee endeavours to gain sponsorship for each round to enable prizes to be awarded on a fortnightly basis. If you or an associate are interested and able to sponsor a round please talk to a committee member. ChampionshipThe Club Championship is held over 4 rounds during August/September/October and is a stroke play event for A, B and C grade members. Winners are determined from the best 3 of the 4 rounds. Members must be financial and have played at least 5 rounds with the club during the current year to be eligible to win the Championship. Championship scale:A Grade = Handicap 0-14 (inclusive) B Grade = Handicap 15-20 (inclusive) C Grade = Handicap 21 and above Fortnightly CompetitionEach round prizes are generally awarded for 1st and 2nd placings based on a net score. Additional prizes are also awarded for nearest the pin on all par 3's (Division A Handicaps 0-16; Division B Handicaps 17 +) , longest drive (Division A Handicaps 0-16; Division B Handicaps 17+ (designated hole) and an approach hole (designated hole). A birdie on the first hole is also rewarded with golf balls. The birdie hole accumulates at 2 balls per round until it is won. Ball run down to be given to those players that play to or better than their handicap. Game Completion A competition game will be deemed complete if the entire field finishes a minimum of 9 holes. If the a game is washed out after this than only the holes that the last group complete will be scored and winners determined. The club captain will deem a course unplayable. Event Types The Club plays a variety of event types during the course of the year. Members will get the opportunity to play with a preferred playing partner, however the Club encourages members to embrace the social aspect of the game and a random draw will often be conducted to determine playing groups. Slow Play Before we run down a list of suggestions for speeding up play, it's important to note that many of these tips have anything to do with 'rushing' your play, but rather simply being ready to play, and with common sense and good etiquette on the course. Here are some tips for speeding up play on the course.
Members of a group should not travel as a pack, with all members walking together to the first ball, then the second, and so on. Each member of the group should walk directly to his/her own ball. If you have hit into the rough or trees then take no longer than 3 minutes to locate your ball. If not found take a penalty and drop approximately where the position of where the ball was thought to be lost. If you are unsure whether your ball has come to rest Out-of-Bounds, or may be lost, immediately hit a provisional ball so that you won't have to return to the spot to replay your shot. To speed up the play in the social group you may drop a ball where you went out of bounds instead of returning to where the shot was played. However in this instance you must add on 2 penalty shots. When two players are riding in a cart, drive the cart to the first ball and drop off the player with his/her choice of clubs. The second player should proceed in the cart to his/her ball. After the first player has played his/her shot, s/he should begin walking towards the cart as the second golfer is playing. The bottom line is, as soon as it's your turn to play, you should be ready to step up and make the shot or putt. Rules of GolfEach event is played in accordance with the local rules of the course. The Club does however play "preferred" lie and players are able to place their ball within 1 scorecards length of where it lies. Playing partners must swap scorecards for scoring purposes and are to ensure accurate scores are recorded at the completion of each hole. All other general rules of golf apply. Annual Awards
